GWRPC An Economic Development District

The national network of Economic Development Districts (EDDs) consists of over 400 regional organizations designated by the U.S. Economic Development Administration. Partner with the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission located in Albion, IL, to drive local and regional progress. We are a federally designated Economic Development District committed to providing comprehensive services to propel our residents' and businesses' dreams and aspirations forward. Our proactive approach and unwavering dedication foster a spirit of cooperation that leads to innovative solutions and sustainable growth.

Who We Are

We pride ourselves on serving Crawford, Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, Wayne, and White counties by providing planning, technical assistance, and project development services on community and economic developments, transportation, housing, land use, public facilities, and natural resources.
Mission Statement
The Commission serves the Greater Wabash District by providing local, regional, and comprehensive planning, facilitating knowledge enhancement, securing and administering funds, and promoting cooperative solutions to regional issues.
Vision Statement
We envision a region where all sectors (workforce, community, public infrastructure, economic development, and economic and environmental resiliency) work together toward a growing, prosperous region. We strive to attract and strengthen businesses and jobs, promote housing development, enhance economic growth, and continue improving the quality of life in our communities.

Our Commission Offers:

Grant Writing and Management
We assist with grant writing and management for programs such as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and EDA Public Works. Eligible projects include public infrastructure (water and sewer), housing rehabilitation, recreation projects, and economic development.
Transformative Impact
We have infused over $2 million into various projects, resulting in over $13 million in economic activity. The ripple effect of our revolving loan fund is evident in the significant contribution to the employment landscape, with over 500 jobs being created, retained, or rescued across the seven-county region.
This is a testament to our unwavering commitment to cultivating a thriving and resilient local economy, fostering growth, and seizing opportunities for the businesses and communities we serve.
